ARTIST STATEMENT

Shan Ogdemli was born in Berkeley, California to an artistic, musical, globe-trotting family and spent her childhood living in Thailand, Hong Kong and Hawaii with frequent international trips with her parents. This early exposure to different cultures, religions and artistic traditions helped expand her consciousness, shape her wholistic world view and had a profound influence on her art. Shan earned a BFA with high honors and a full scholarship from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, after which she and husband, Daniel Feldman, founded an award-winning graphic design and illustration studio in Los Angeles. Their business grew to a staff of 10, with projects that included Super Bowl logos and tickets, cards for Paper Moon Graphics, album covers, fashion ads and more. In 2000 they created Designs By Shan, licensing Shan’s illustrations onto thousands of products including home decor, stationery, fabrics and cosmetic bags. In 2005 they and their agents launched Pampered Girls, a lifestyle fashion brand, which became an international phenomenon with stores in Japan and Taiwan and thousands of licensed products sold globally. Shan also always created her fine art on the side and had a few shows and sales over the years. In addition to running all of the businesses, Shan and Dan raised 3 wonderful children. Shan’s true passion has always been creating her fine art, and in 2021, when the kids grew up, she and Daniel finally made the transition to focusing solely on building upon Shan’s fine art career, moving to beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico where they set up Shan’s home based art studio and show space.
